This technique is now recognised as a mainstream investigation tool with a industry wide take-up and inclusion in the recent BS 8576: 2013 and Environment Agency landfill surrender document EPR 5.02.

Nottingham University release report on public perception of shale gas

The University of Nottingham has just published the attached report which make interesting reading.

The report is based on 5 public surveys carried out by YouGov over the last 12 months into the public perception of shale gas. The report demonstrates that there are clear positive shifts in the way people are viewing shale gas a growing number seeing it as a clean and cheap energy source.

Full House at EPUK Event and BS8576 Update

The recent Environmental Protection UK event held in association with Wolverhampton University  was filled to capacity.  The event covered new advances in ground gas monitoring and assessment techniques.

Mike Smith presented on the draft BS8576 Guidance on investigations for ground gas – Permanent gases and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).  The final draft following the recent public consultation has been completed and by now will be with BSi for approval before publication.  We anticipate a spring release if all goes well!

UKOOG Publishes UK Industry Guidelines For Shale Gas Operations

The United Kingdom Onshore Operators Group (UKOOG), the representative body for UK onshore oil and gas companies published on 28th February industry guidelines covering best practise for shale gas operations in the UK.

The guidelines were written by a high level workgroup comprising operating and service companies as well as The Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), The Environment Agency (EA) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
