Ground-Gas Solutions (GGS) is delighted to have been asked to submit an article on Radon to be featured in the June edition of Tomorrow’s Facilities Management.
Written by Andrew Brunton, Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant at GGS, the article focuses on the presence of Radon, how it can be detected and then mitigated in the workplace.
Considering that Radon gas exposure is the second highest cause of lung cancer in the UK (after smoking), raising awareness of this gas’s harmful and invisible effects is essential.
On average, Radon exposure accounts for around 50% of an individual’s radiation exposure each year. The latest available figures in England and Wales suggest that around 2000 premature deaths are caused by Radon annually. Given these statistics, GGS is proud to be able to contribute to education of the wider public to ensure that appropriate steps are taken to protect people from the effects of Radon exposure.
